Excision of Ectopic Bone is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of abnormal bone growths, known as ectopic bone, that form outside the normal skeletal system. These growths typically develop in soft tissues such as muscles, tendons, or ligaments, often after trauma, surgery, or certain medical conditions such as fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP), a rare genetic disorder that causes soft tissues to turn into bone.
