Chiari malformation

Chiari malformation is a condition where brain tissue, particularly the cerebellum, extends into the spinal canal. This can put pressure on the brainstem and spinal cord, affecting functions like balance and coordination. Type I Chiari malformation is the most common form, often presenting with symptoms in late childhood or adulthood, such as headaches, neck pain, dizziness, numbness, and sometimes problems with swallowing or speaking.
