Orthopaedic Service Update

Our orthopaedic services are operating as normal. We have adequate stock to support planned procedures and, based on current information, no procedures are being rescheduled due to national bone cement supply issues.

What this means for operations

Operations are proceeding as scheduled. If any change were required for operational reasons, we would update this page and contact affected patient directly.

No action is needed. Please follow the pre-operative instructions already provided by your clinical team.

About bone cement and joint replacement

No all hip or knee replacements require bone cement. Many are performed using cementless (uncemented) fixation, depending on clinical factors and the surgeon's plan.

How are we managing this proactively

We are monitoring stock levels daily and working with suppliers to maintain continuity of care.

We are aligned with the latest NHS Wales and NHS England advice on the national supply situation and will update this page if guidance changes. ed to specifically produce the best and fastest rehabilitation from surgery.
