Mastoidectomy

Mastoidectomy is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of part or all of the mastoid bone (located behind the ear) and the mastoid air cells. The mastoid bone is part of the temporal bone of the skull and is connected to the middle ear. Mastoidectomy is often performed to treat chronic or severe ear infections, cholesteatomas, or other conditions affecting the middle ear and mastoid air cells.
