Mastoid surgery

Mastoid surgery refers to surgical procedures performed on the mastoid bone, which is located just behind the ear. The mastoid bone contains air cells and is part of the temporal bone of the skull. Mastoid surgery is commonly performed to treat conditions that affect the mastoid bone or middle ear, including chronic ear infections, mastoiditis, cholesteatoma, or other complications that do not respond to conservative treatments.
