Laser stapedotomy

A laser stapedotomy is a minimally invasive variation of the traditional stapedectomy, where a small portion of the stapes bone is removed. In a stapedotomy, instead of removing the stapes, the surgeon uses a laser to create a hole in the stapes and places a small prosthetic device to restore sound conduction. The goal is to improve hearing by bypassing the abnormal bone growth caused by otosclerosis and allowing sound vibrations to travel through the ear properly.
