Cardiac Event Monitors

You can eat and drink normally before your cardiac event monitor. Wear loose clothing so we can easily fit the device to your chest. You may need to shave your chest where the sensors will be placed, but this will be discussed with you beforehand.

Your results will go back to the referring clinician 48 hours after the return of the device. 

At St Joseph’s Hospital, we need a referral outlining the clinical reason for the event monitor and the length of time it is required to be worn. This can be written by your GP or the consultant you are under. This is to ensure the correct test is performed that best demonstrates what is being questioned.
