How to book

Booking an appointment with St Joseph’s Hospital

Whether you are paying for yourself or using your private medical insurance, accessing care is simple.

You can find out more about our consultants and the treatments they offer by contacting our friendly team of patient advisors. 

The team will book you in on a date and time that is convenient to you and will inform you of any information your consultant may require on the day of your appointment, for example a GP referral letter.

During your appointment

Your consultant will listen and discuss your symptoms with you. Depending on your condition, your consultant may suggest you have some initial tests or scans to help with your diagnosis. However they will develop a treatment plan with you, ensuring you understand every step.

Book an appointment

Self Pay Information

You can choose your consultant or simply self-refer to the relevant specialist unit. Our patient advisors will be able to confirm if a GP referral is required. If it is easier to see a GP privately we offer this service through The Independent General Practice (IGP). For those patients having surgery with us, we will provide a written quotation ahead of your treatment. It is asked that payment for procedures is paid in advance. Usually this is taken 7 days prior to your admission. We accept credit/debit cards and BACs payment transfer.

Paying with your private health insurance

St Joseph’s is registered with all of the UK’s major providers. To process your private medical insurance claim we require the following information: 

  • Name of provider (e.g., BUPA)
  • Policy/membership number
  • Authorisation number
  • Expiry date of authorisation
  • Maximum treatment budget/appointments
  • Value of any personal policy excess
  • Any conditions or exclusions

In most cases, costs are agreed in advance and payment of any consultation and treatment will be made directly to us by your medicalinsurer. In some instances, you may be required to pay for elements of your treatment not covered by your insurance policy.

NHS Patients

You may receive NHS-funded care at St Joseph’s Hospital if your local NHS health board has contracted-out the services you require to St Joseph's Hospital. We work in partnership with the NHS to provide you the care and services you require. Our dedicated NHS team will liaise with you to ensure you understanding each stage of your journey.
