St Joseph’s Hospital Radiology team shortlisted for industry awards

The Radiology department at St Joseph’s Hospital, Newport, has been shortlisted for the HSJ Independent Healthcare Providers Awards 2025.
The nomination and subsequent shortlist recognise the radiology team’s outstanding Advanced Diagnostics facilities for cardiac patients, celebrating the innovative radiographer-led service.
The only healthcare provider to be shortlisted in south-east Wales, the accolade follows St Joseph’s Hospital’s recent investment in Advanced Diagnostics facilities. The team received a new, cutting-edge CT scanner in 2024 - the first of its kind in Wales - which offers unparalleled precision and speed to deliver high-quality images with reduced radiation exposure to patients.
By investing in the new diagnostics technology, St Joseph’s Hospital’s Radiology department continues to support the NHS recovery plan with critical diagnostic testing for patients with underlying health conditions.
Rachel Davies, Advanced Diagnostics Clinical Lead, said: “Through collaborative working, our Radiology team provides patients with rapid and increased opportunities of detection and prevention as well as alleviating the pressure of risk stratification.
“Transforming the delivery of cardiac imaging to patients is imperative for driving standards forwards. Through efficient and effective use of state-of-the-art resources, our team has thrived using new technology.
