St Joseph's Hospital is delighted to congratulate Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Mr Andrew Miller on reaching a significant career milestone with the completion of his 100th Mako robotic-assisted hip replacement. While this landmark procedure took place at St Joseph's Hospital, it represents Mr Miller's 100th Mako robotic hip replacement performed throughout his career.

The achievement reflects Mr Miller's extensive experience in robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery and his ongoing commitment to delivering the highest standards of patient care through the use of advanced surgical technology.

Mr Miller said:

"I'm delighted to have reached this milestone and would like to thank the outstanding theatre team at St Joseph's Hospital for their dedication and professionalism. Robotic-assisted surgery is very much a team effort, and this achievement reflects the commitment of everyone involved in delivering the highest standard of care for our patients."

Precision Through Advanced Technology

Mako robotic-assisted technology allows every hip replacement to be carefully planned using a patient-specific CT scan before surgery. During the procedure, the robotic system provides real-time data to assist with accurate implant positioning and restoration of the patient's individual anatomy.

Importantly, the technology supports the surgeon—it does not replace them.

"The robot doesn't replace surgical judgement—it enhances it," explained Mr Miller. "It gives me another layer of information and precision, allowing me to tailor each operation to the individual patient while maintaining complete control throughout the procedure."

Robotic Orthopaedic Care at St Joseph's Hospital

St Joseph's Hospital is proud to offer patients access to Mako robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery as part of its continued investment in advanced orthopaedic care. By combining experienced consultant surgeons with innovative technology, the hospital provides patients with a personalised approach to hip replacement surgery in a modern, patient-focused environment.

Mr Miller's milestone highlights both his expertise in robotic-assisted surgery and the growing availability of this advanced treatment option for patients choosing St Joseph's Hospital for their orthopaedic care.

Reflecting on his achievement, Mr Miller added:

"It's a privilege to help patients regain their mobility and quality of life. I'm grateful to my colleagues, the wider hospital team and, most importantly, to the patients who have placed their trust in us. I look forward to continuing to develop our robotic joint replacement programme in the years ahead."

Everyone at St Joseph's Hospital congratulates Mr Miller on this impressive milestone and looks forward to supporting many more patients as they benefit from the latest advances in robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery.
