Cataract surgery.

Rhianon continues to be very active in research. She is a co-applicant on a mixed-method study working within a collaboration across South Wales including Aneurin Bevan UHB, the University of South Wales, Cardiff University, Swansea University, Optometry Wales and Sight Cymru. The study is looking at eyecare pathways in the hospital and community and patient attitudes. Rhianon also co-supervises a Macular Society-funded clinical PhD in Cardiff University investigating cell activity and blood flow in age-related macular degeneration. 

Rhianon is also a member of the International Retinal collaborative and has published work with a number of international partners as well as being invited to speak at international meetings and regularly reviews research articles for Ophthalmology journals. 

Clinically, Rhianon has been an investigator on a number of multicentre clinical trials. Rhianon also regularly supervises medical students in their special study module where they work on a research project within an area of medicine. Previous students have won awards and had their work presented internationally.
