Mrs Nida Afshan

Mrs Afshan is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, where she undertakes specialist clinics and operating lists at the Royal Gwent Hospital and Grange University Hospital.

She has over seven years of experience as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and graduated from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, India. Mrs Afshan completed her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology through the Wales Deanery and has undertaken advanced training in Urogynaecology and Advanced Labour Ward Practice. She is also highly skilled in benign gynaecological surgery, including both open and laparoscopic procedures, and the management of menstrual disorders.

Mrs Afshan has a particular interest in the diagnosis and treatment of pelvic floor disorders, including pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence. She also specialises in the management of heavy menstrual bleeding, menstrual disorders, fibroids, and chronic pelvic pain.

She offers a comprehensive range of surgical treatments, including pelvic floor reconstructive surgery, minimally invasive and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, complex open abdominal surgery, and hysteroscopic procedures performed in both outpatient and day-case settings. Her approach is centred on providing evidence-based, personalised care tailored to each woman's individual needs and circumstances.

In addition to her clinical work, Mrs Afshan is passionate about medical education and training. She is actively involved in teaching medical students and junior doctors and serves as an Educational Supervisor for postgraduate trainees within Wales.
