Professional bio

Mr Ryan Davies is an NHS Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Royal Gwent Hospital. He specialises in Paediatric Ophthalmology, general ophthalmology, and complex cataract surgery.

Mr Davies graduated with Honours from Cardiff University in 2008 and subsequently trained in Wales to become a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmology. He spent a year at the prestigious Manchester Royal Eye Hospital to further develop his skills and experience in diagnosis and management of complex Paediatric eye diseases, such as congenital cataracts and Retinopathy of Prematurity. 

Mr Davies has a keen interest in medical education and has published several book chapters and research articles. He was awarded a prestigious research grant during his training. Mr Davies has recently been appointed the Training Programme Director for Wales and is also an accredited Royal College Examiner.

Personal Profile

Outside of work Mr Davies lives with his wife, two young children and Border Terrier. It goes without saying that he therefore has little free time, but when he does, he likes to play the piano and exercise.
