Mr Mohanty is a senior and experienced consultant based at the Cardiff and Vale health board since 2004 and works both at the University Hospital of Wales and Llandough Hospital. Having completed basic surgical training in India, Mr Mohanty entered the all-Wales Higher Training Programme in Trauma & Orthopaedics in 1997.
He was fortunate to have trained in hip and knee replacement surgery at the world-famous Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry. Mr Mohanty then travelled to Canada and spent a year at the Foothills Hospital, Calgary as a senior fellow and received specialised training in pelvis and sacroiliac joint surgery.
Mr Mohanty is also a regional specialist in pelvic and sacroiliac joint conditions and is well known in this field. Mr Mohanty has pioneered keyhole stabilisation of the SI and has published several research papers in this specialist area. As a major trauma consultant, Mr Mohanty carries out all types of fracture fixation surgery.
Mr Mohanty is the current training programme director of the Welsh higher surgical programme and is heavily involved in training, teaching and research. He holds a total of Honorary Lecturer with Cardiff University and has authored several research papers.
