Professional bio
Ioannis completed his BSc degree in Physiotherapy back in Greece (University of Central Greece) as the valedictorian student receiving the award of excellence from the Hellenic Scientific Society of Physical Therapy.
Upon the completion of his studies, Ioannis spend 1 year in the Greek national army successfully completing his national services. After his military duties, Ioannis started working in private and public institutes as a lecturer for physiotherapy assistants before deciding to come to the UK for his MSc degree at Cardiff University.
Ioannis successfully completed his Master’s degree in 2018, which was focused on low back pain patients and their behaviours towards their painful experience, gaining an in-depth understanding of the importance of treating the patient through a biopsychosocial approach. Since then, he has been attending courses and conferences around chronic pain to help guide his understanding of the complexity of pain.
Currently, he is studying for a postgraduate diploma in pain (European Diploma in Pain Physiotherapy). Before joining St Joseph’s Hospital, Ioannis was working in the private sector for private companies in South Wales, gaining vast experience in the assessment and treatment of different pathologies.
