Professional bio

Mr Walijee is a fellowship trained ENT Consultant with a special interest in Ear Surgery at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, where he also holds the responsibility of paediatric ENT Lead. His special interests are removal of cholesteatoma, ear drum repair, reconstruction of ear canal and hearing bones, pinnaplasty, tinnitus, balance problems and Paediatric ENT surgery. Mr Walijee also has extensive experience in the treatment of general ENT conditions having performed over 3000 operations over the last decade.

Mr. Walijee obtained his undergraduate medical degree in 2011 from Cardiff University. Due to his passion for education, he completed a postgraduate certificate in Teaching and Learning in Health Professions (TLHP) from Bristol University. In 2021, he obtained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (ORL-HNS). In 2023,  he was recognised and accredited specialist status by the specialist advisory committee in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery and the General Medical Council. He is a faculty member at the RCS England, Liverpool ExcellENT courses, Wales ENT registrar Vivas and an examiner at Cardiff University.

Mr. Walijee's broad clinical experience, reflects his dedication and commitment to ENT, having completed junior doctor rotations in Wales and South West England before embarking on higher surgical training in the North West (Mersey) and Wales Deaneries as well as attending training courses in Dubai, Netherlands and Spain. Due to his interest in middle ear and mastoid surgery, Mr. Walijee undertook a fellowship in Otology at Gloucester. Here, he gained proficiency in laser-assisted cholesteatoma surgery and minimally invasive endoscopic ear surgery with an emphasis on hearing preservation. During his fellowship, he travelled with a team of ENT surgeons to Zambia to establish a training partnership between ENT UK and ZENTAS (Zambia ENT, Audiology and Speech Therapy Society). 

Mr. Walijee was awarded the Tarabichi and Stammberger Ear and Sinus Institute (TSESI) scholarship in 2016 to train in endoscopic ear surgical techniques in Dubai and the Thomas Wickham Jones (TWJ) Foundation Grant in 2024 to attend the prestigious Nijmegen Ear Surgery Course and observership in the Netherlands.

He is an active member of ENT UK, BSO, BAPO and a specialist advisor for RCS England ENT updates. Mr Walijee has previously held committee roles in the Association of Otolaryngologists in Training (AOT), British Society of Otology Juniors (BSOJ) and Mersey ENT Research Collaborative (MERC).

Personal Profile

Outside of work, Mr. Walijee is an amateur golfer and cyclist. He enjoys spending time with his two young children, engaging in DIY projects, learning languages, and travelling.
