I completed my specialist orthopaedic training in 2012 on the All Wales Training Programme. My training included two Fellowships in Spinal Surgery. The Fellowships were in The Spinal Unit at The Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and in The Spinal Unit at Cardiff and Vale Health Board Hospitals.
I am an Orthopaedic Consultant at St Joseph's Hospital and the Royal Gwent Hospital with a special interest in Spinal surgery, treating various conditions of the spine including degenerative conditions of the spine, spinal tumours and spinal trauma.
My area of expertise include the treatment of low back pain, leg pain including sciatica, neck pain, arm pain, sacroiliac pain and coccygeal pain. Treatments that I offer include: Lumbar (Low back) spinal decompressions, micro discectomy, spinal stabilisation / fusion, sacroiliac stabilisation and coccygectomy. Cervical (neck) decompression and stabilisation, cervical discectomy and fusion/ disc replacement.
I do injections for low back and radicular/leg pain as well as neck pain. I also do radio frequency denervations / ablations of facet joints and sacroiliac joints and work closely with physiotherapist to help in the management of acute and chronic low back pain and neck pain.
