Professional bio
I am a native of Llandeilo and a welsh speaker. I attended the Medical School of St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. My orthopaedic training was undertaken in Wales and Australia. Since being appointed as a consultant in Cardiff University Hospitals twenty years ago I have specialised in hip replacement surgery and I now perform up to 300 hundred primary and revision hip replacement operations a year.
I have therefore gained considerable experience in the treatment of people with arthritic hips who need primary and revision (re-do) hip replacement surgery. I have helped several thousand people with disabling hip pain return to normal activities.
During your consultation, I will try to understand how your hip is affecting you and offer a solution to improve your problems. I will discuss all options with you to help you come to the best decision for you. My aim is to make sure that you understand my opinion clearly before you leave the consulting room. I understand that the decision to undergo an operation can be difficult and that you may need time to discuss your options in detail. If I perform your operation I will use implants that have met the highest quality standards, and I will follow you up until I am sure that you are pleased with the result of the surgery.
