Reporting to: OPD Clinical manager / Pre-Assessment Manager
Job Summary
Work effectively as a member of the clinical nursing team to ensure the provision of the highest standard of patient and customer care, accepting delegated responsibility for specific activities from the OPD / Preassessment clinical managers.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver skilled practical nursing care and participate in the monitoring of planning, delivery and evaluation of individualised patient care in relevant areas of practice, following St Joseph’s policies and in accordance with consultant protocols where applicable
• Participate in the implementation and evaluation of standards of care within the relevant department.
• Continue to develop clinical knowledge and professional skills of practice.
• Report to clinical leads any complaints, accidents, incidents and near misses both verbally and in writing, completing relevant Datix incident reporting
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are essential to ensure a safe, effective and compassionate service.
• Adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and ensure relevant registration and revalidation.
• Be an excellent communicator and team worker, you will also be flexible and motivated
• Skills in the utilisation of I.T. systems.
• Ability to work to deadlines and cope with a fast turnover of patients
• Ensure completion of mandatory training within 3 months of start date
Person Specification
The following specification represents the range of skills, abilities, and experiences etc. relevant to the position. Applicants are expected to meet the attributes that have been identified as essential.
Essential
RN
A minimum of 2 years post registration experience
Evidence of CPD
Good IT skills and ability to use clinical data systems
Ability to work as part of a team and flexible enabling moving between departments
Registration with the appropriate Governing body and the qualifications and experience relevant to your registration.
Proficient in Phlebotomy
Excellent communication skills at all levels
Understanding of fundamentals of nursing care and ability to deliver a high standard of individualized care
Desirable
Proven OPD / surgical / pre assessment experience
Ability to perform ECG’s, Airway assessment, Heart/Lung Auscultation
Ability to manage your own caseload using your clinical judgement
