Department: Administration - Ward
Hours: 22.5 hours per week (Monday to Sunday between the hours of 6:30am - 8pm)
Salary: £25,120 pro rata
Responsible to: Customer Services Manager

Job Summary 

St Joseph's Independent Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Ward Clerk to join our Administration department. 

Key Responsibilities 

• To provide Ward Clerk and Admin support for our wards and day surgery unit.

• To deliver excellent customer service to patients, visitors, consultants, team colleagues and all internal departments.

• To ensure patient files are ready for patient admission including relevant results.

• To ensure all patient files are filed correctly and relevant changes are entered onto system upon discharge.

• Deal with inbound telephone enquiries and process as necessary, ensure messages are passed correctly and confidentially.

• Ensure all post discharge calls are made to patients within 48 hours.

• Ensure all patients leave hospital with their follow-up appointments and discharge packs. 

Person Specification 

The following specification represents the range of skills, abilities and experiences etc. relevant to the position. Applicants are expected to meet the attributes that have been identifies as essential. 

Essential 

• Experience providing excellent customer service.

• Experience of dealing with incoming/outgoing calls, responding to emails and general office duties.

• GDPR aware.

• Fully computer literate. 

• Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.

• Motivated, enthusiastic and able to work as part of a team or own initiative.

Desirable

Experience of working in a hospital environment.
