Job Title: Bank Outpatient Administrator 
Department: Outpatient Administration 
Hours: Bank - Casual Hours, between the hours of 8am-8pm. 
Rate of Pay: £12.88 per hour plus 12.07% Working-Time Directive
Responsible to: OPD Admin Team Lead 

Job Summary

To provide Ad-hoc cover for the Outpatient Administration department. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide a first class and effective service to patients, visitors, consultants, team colleagues and all internal departments.

Provide professional administration cover to enable the smooth running of the department or clinic.

Deal with inbound telephone and email enquiries and process as necessary, ensuring messages are passed correctly and confidentially. 

Ensure that any voicemail messages are dealt with, and calls returned on the same working day.

Deal with referrals from GP practices, medical secretaries and other referrals, both in hand and soft copy, and via referrers' portals.

Work confidently with the Hospital's Patient Information System to book appointments, set up and manage clinics for clinicians, and record patient outcomes.

Demonstrate the highest level of customer service, ensuring an excellent patient experience. 

Person Specification

Essential:

• Maths and English GCSE

• Proven ability to work under pressure

• Evidence of experience of working and contributing to a team

• Proven ability to manage own workload and prioritise when there are competing priorities

• Relevant experience of working in an Administration environment

• Experience of being in a customer-facing role

• Evidence of delivering a high standard of customer service 

Desirable: 

• Experience in a healthcare environment and working with patients

• Proven ability to communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including patients, staff-members, visitors, suppliers and environmental health
