St Joseph's Hospital Unveils Wales’s First State-of-the-Art CT Scanner

St Joseph’s Hospital is proud to announce the installation and official launch of the first advanced CT scanner of its kind in Wales. This cutting-edge technology represents a significant leap forward in diagnostic imaging and patient care, setting new standards in medical diagnostics in the region.
Enhancing its cardiac scanning capabilities and improving the patient experience, St Joseph’s Hospital have installed the Aquilion ONE INSIGHT Edition. This makes it the first hospital in Wales and the first private hospital in the UK to benefit from the new technology.
The new CT scanner, which utilises state-of-the-art imaging technology, offers unparalleled precision and speed, delivering high-quality images with reduced radiation exposure to patients. This investment is a critical part of St Joseph’s Hospital's ongoing commitment to providing exceptional healthcare services to the community and solidifying its position as a leader in innovative medical treatments.
Opening the scanner on Monday 14th October, St Joseph’s Hospital welcomed David Hare, CEO of IHPN. Mr Hare commented “I’m delighted to open this new world-class CT scanner at St Joseph’s which will enable patients across Wales and beyond to benefit from rapid access to the highest quality scanning facilities – ensuring cancer and other serious conditions can be caught and treated more quickly and giving patients much needed peace of mind.”
St Joseph’s Hospital continues to support the NHS recovery plan across Wales and the Southwest by providing CT Cardiac imaging. This service provides critical diagnostic testing for patients with underlying health conditions. The hospitals innovative radiographer led service, allows swift patient focused booking with the aim of reporting within 48 hours, something that no other private provider locally is able to support.
