Two of our fantastic physiotherapist team attended the Commonwealth Games.
This week the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games officially closed and handed the baton over to Victoria 2026. St Joseph’s Hospital have thoroughly enjoyed the two weeks of sporting activity and cheering on the home nations. It was a fantastic event and now they are pleased to welcome home Oliver Wilding and Jonny Harper, physiotherapists at St Joseph’s Hospital, who had the pleasure of working at the games.
Oliver has been with the hospital for 4 years, whilst also providing support for Welsh Athletics at various competitions and training sessions. Oliver attended the Commonwealth Games with the Welsh Athletics team and thoroughly enjoyed his experience.
Jonny joined St Joseph’s Hospital back in 2017 and alongside his position at the hospital, he has worked for Hockey Wales as the lead physiotherapist for the Senior Women’s team.
Both Oliver and Jonny attended the games to manage acute injuries, pitch side trauma, and ensuring the athletes were in their best condition to take part. A fantastic opportunity and one that they will always remember!
Oliver and Jonny commented, “We had a fantastic time at the games working on the Birmingham University site, the largest of the 3 main Commonwealth Games villages. It was a great experience working within a team of some of the best sports medicine doctors and physios in Wales, with a handful of complex cases to keep us busy and respectable haul of medals to finish on too!”
St Joseph’s Hospital are proud to have their expertise as part of the team and congratulate the pair on their success.
