About Me

After completing my physiotherapy training and graduating from Otago University in New Zealand, I have spent the past 15 years in the UK working in private clinics, private hospitals and within the NHS. This has exposed me to the best of different working environments and allowed me to learn from many of the best clinicians in the country. I went on to complete my master’s degree in physiotherapy at Birmingham University in 2010 gained me admission to the MACP. This membership requires extensive postgraduate study and to have reached a recognised standard of excellence in neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy. Following my return to working in the NHS in 2013, I reached the level of Clinical Specialist within the Aneurin Bevan Health Board. My clinical interests include spinal assessment and treatment (sub-grouping patients for treatment pathways and establishing specific rehabilitation programmes); sports injury screening and prevention; lower limb biomechanics and movement assessment; gait/running analysis; tendon injury sub-classification and rehabilitation. My current role involves co-ordinating and developing services within the Centre for Clinical Physiotherapy and integrating these within the hospital’s focus on individual patient care. Linking with consultants, GPs and local health professionals to provide pathways of care for patients that are accessible, expert and evidence based.

I have an interest in health promotion and injury screening/prevention. Previously I have worked with age group sports teams using individual movement screening to help identify players at potential higher risk to injury.

The rest of my time is taken up enjoying the outdoors with my wife and three young children. I balance my love of food by keeping fit with local triathlons and recently completed the Cardiff Half Marathon. I enjoy watching and supporting rugby, with the Gwent Dragons, Wales and the All Blacks.
